Shape it. Build it. Launch it.
Spike It!
Project-based technical support for founders bringing an idea to life — from learning to build it yourself, through a proof of concept or a first release built alongside you, to getting a shaky AI-assisted build production-ready.
What Spike It! is
Technical firepower for the earliest, hardest part.
The gap between an idea and something you can actually show someone is where most ventures stall. Spike It! closes that gap. We work with founders on short, focused projects — teaching, building, or both — until the concept is real enough to be judged on its merits rather than on a description of it.
Ways we work together
-
01
Mentoring & Education
Workshop-style sessions where we explore your product concept together. We bring the questions a technology leader would ask, and you come out understanding your own idea better — what it actually is, what it needs, and what it does not.
Best when you want to think it through properly with someone who has built this before.
-
02
Vibe & Agentic Coding Foundations
A grounding in how AI-assisted development really works, plus a development environment set up and running on your own machine. The goal is simple: that you can sit down afterwards and drive the development process yourself.
Best when you intend to build it yourself and want a running start rather than a long detour.
-
03
Proof of Concept
We take the lead on the development work, using AI tooling, with your founding team alongside us shaping the concept as it takes form. You finish with something real to put in front of users, investors or a board.
Best when the idea has to exist before anyone can sensibly judge it.
-
04
Alpha or Beta Build
A step beyond a proof of concept: a first version built to be used. Real architecture decisions, real data and real users — and a clear-eyed view of what it would take to go further.
Best when the concept is proven and the next thing you need is a product.
-
05
Production Readiness
An AI-driven build can carry you a long way and still not be safe to put in front of customers. We run a focused audit of what you have — architecture, data, security, test coverage, and the parts an agent wrote that nobody has read — then design a rapid programme to close the gaps and get you to a place of confidence.
Best when you have something that works, and you need something you can trust in production.
Vibe and agentic coding
We can teach you to drive, not to watch
AI has changed what a small founding team can build on its own — but only if you know how to work with it. Vibe coding and agentic coding are genuine skills: framing a problem so a model can act on it, giving it the right context and no more, recognising where it will be confidently wrong, and knowing when to stop and read the code yourself.
We teach it the way we learned it — by building something real with you, in your own environment, rather than talking about it in the abstract. The same practice sits behind Method.AI, our own AI deployment methodology.
What you leave with
Whichever shape the engagement takes, the point is that you are further forward on your own terms — not dependent on us to take the next step.
-
An environment that works
Editor, agent tooling, model access, source control and a path to deploy — configured, tested and running on your machine, not on a slide.
-
A way of working with agents
Planning, context, review and the guardrails that stop an agent quietly rewriting something that mattered while you weren't looking.
-
When to trust AI
Where AI-assisted development is genuinely faster, where it is not, and how to tell the difference before you have lost a fortnight to it.
-
A concept you can explain
The clarity that only comes from having built the thing — what it is, who it is for, and what it will honestly take to go further.
Shaped around you
No two founding teams need the same thing. Some want to learn and then build it themselves. Some want us to build while they shape. Most want something in between — and change their minds once they see the first version, which is exactly as it should be. We agree the shape of the work with you, and we change it when the work tells us to.
Formats we work in
- Workshops
- 1:1 mentoring
- Pair building
- Fixed-scope sprints
- Ongoing sessions
Remote, hybrid or in the room — whichever suits the stage you are at.
Outcomes we aim at
- A working environment
- A sharper concept
- A proof of concept
- An alpha or beta release
- A production-ready build
Agreed up front, so you know what finished looks like before we start.
How an engagement starts
-
01
A free consultation
A conversation, not a pitch. We explore where you are, what you are trying to build and what is actually in the way.
-
02
A proposal, in the session
We shape the engagement with you while we are still talking — scope, format and outcome — so you leave with something concrete rather than a follow-up email.
-
03
We get to work
Short, focused and visible from the first week, with the shape of the work open to change as the concept sharpens.
